Control Resonant Is Making Dylan Stronger, Even If He Just Woke Up From A Coma

Control Resonant launched today with an immediate day-one hotfix from developer Remedy Entertainment, addressing a widely reported issue: overly difficult combat in the game’s early hours. The patch, version 1.3.3 across platforms, specifically targets the gameplay loop that had frustrated both critics and early access players.

The hotfix reduces enemy health pools, which reviewers consistently noted felt too high during initial gameplay. More significantly, it makes applying the “Falter” status—a crucial stun mechanic that sets up powerful executions—easier to achieve, reducing the number of hits required. The patch also increases maximum Aberrant Strength and Ability Strength, directly boosting the player character Dylan’s overall power.

Remedy explained in patch notes that they’ve been “keeping a close eye” on feedback from critics and the Digital Deluxe Edition early access players who had access two days before launch. The developer stated: “Depending on player progression, enemies can feel too tanky during the early hours of the game,” and emphasized that the changes aim to “improve the gameplay feel and flow while still providing a challenge” without overcorrecting.

The timing of the hotfix proved ironic for at least one reviewer, who had noted inflated enemy health pools as a primary complaint—only to see that exact issue addressed hours after publication.

One technical wrinkle: PC players will need to re-download the entire game, as the hotfix “triggered certain platform mechanisms” that required a full redownload rather than a standard patch application. Console players can install the update normally.
