Halo Fest Is Still Set for December 2026
Halo Fest, the celebration of the iconic franchise’s 25th anniversary, is confirmed to proceed as scheduled in December 2026. Tahir “Tashi” Hasangjeka, a Halo executive, announced via Twitter on September 24 that the event will take place December 11–13, 2026, in Seattle, Washington.
The confirmation comes amid significant organizational changes for the Halo franchise. Microsoft has announced that Activision will assume responsibility for managing the Halo IP moving forward. Additionally, the franchise has been severely impacted by recent layoffs at Halo Studios, with reports indicating only 20 developers remain at the studio following a round of cuts in which Microsoft laid off hundreds of developers across Xbox divisions.
Despite these challenges, the Halo team remains committed to celebrating the franchise’s quarter-century milestone. Halo Fest will mark a significant moment for the long-running first-person shooter series, which debuted in 2001 alongside the original Xbox console. The Seattle event is expected to bring together fans, developers, and industry figures to commemorate the franchise’s cultural impact and longevity in gaming.
The event’s continuation signals confidence in the Halo brand’s future, even as the franchise undergoes substantial organizational restructuring under its new publisher oversight.
