Irish Game Fund expands with additional funding pathways

The Irish Games Fund has been expanded and relaunched for 2026 with a restructured funding model designed to support developers at multiple stages of game production. The initiative is being jointly managed by the Irish Game Makers Association and Screen Ireland’s Digital Games Portfolio.

The revamped fund consists of three distinct funding strands: a Development Fund, Prototype Fund, and Release Fund. The Development Fund, the first strand announced, will distribute €50,000 each to four selected teams whose projects have progressed beyond the concept and prototype validation stages. This funding is specifically targeted at established projects ready to enter full production.

The three-tiered structure allows the fund to support the breadth of game development needs across the industry, from early-stage prototyping through to market release. By segmenting funding by development stage, the Irish Games Fund aims to provide more tailored support to developers at each phase of their projects, helping to nurture the regional game development ecosystem.
