Meta is going to let you build games with AI right on your phone

Meta has announced two new development tools designed to democratize game creation for its Horizon social platform. Horizon Create, a mobile application, and Horizon Studio, a browser-based tool with more advanced controls, will both allow users to create games using AI prompts rather than traditional coding or game design expertise.

The tools represent Meta’s latest effort to revitalize the Horizon platform, which has struggled to gain significant traction since its launch. To expand reach and engagement, Meta plans to integrate published games created with these tools directly into Facebook and Instagram, where they will be discoverable through recommendations and playable within those ecosystems. This cross-platform distribution strategy aims to expose Horizon-created games to the billions of users across Meta’s social networks.

Both applications will launch in early access, with interested developers able to sign up for a waitlist. The AI-powered approach significantly lowers the barrier to entry for game development, enabling users without technical backgrounds to participate in game creation.

The initiative reflects broader industry trends toward AI-assisted content creation and Meta’s attempt to compete in gaming by leveraging its massive social platforms. By connecting game development tools to Facebook and Instagram’s distribution networks, Meta seeks to create a more accessible gaming ecosystem while simultaneously driving engagement across its social properties.
