Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Story Comes to an End With Final DLC This December

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader will conclude its three-year run of expansions with a final DLC titled “Processional of the Damned” arriving in December. Originally scheduled for September, the expansion has been delayed to ensure quality, according to developer Owlcat.

The cRPG, which launched in December 2023, has been widely praised as one of the best Warhammer 40,000 video games ever made. Its critical acclaim and commercial success significantly raised Owlcat’s profile within the gaming industry and established the studio as a premier developer of complex narrative-driven games.

The final expansion will introduce a new companion character named Stella, an “unsanctioned psyker” described as a miracle sent by the Emperor himself. Despite her frail appearance and tragic origin—raised by the Ecclesiarchy with powerful psychic abilities—Stella’s unstable powers manifest in dramatic ways, including shedding tears of blood and developing cracks across her skin. In combat, she unleashes devastating psychic flares that deal area-of-effect damage to enemies, though her inherent instability means her powers remain difficult to control.

The conclusion of Rogue Trader’s narrative arc marks a significant milestone for Owlcat as the studio pivots toward its next major project: Dark Heresy, another highly anticipated Warhammer 40,000 cRPG currently in development.
