Six Resident Evil Games Each Sold 3 Million in a Year
Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise demonstrated continued commercial strength, with six games each selling over 3 million copies during a 12-month period from July 2025 to June 2026, according to a report by Game File’s Stephen Totillo.
The strongest performer was Resident Evil 4 Remake, which sold over 5 million copies in that timeframe despite its 2023 release. Resident Evil Village followed with 3.6 million copies sold, while the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 each achieved approximately 4 million sales. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, demonstrating the enduring appeal of older entries, sold 3 million copies in the same period.
The milestone underscores the viability of the remake strategy within the franchise. The remakes have proven particularly lucrative, with three of the six best-performing titles in this sales window being reimagined versions of classic entries. Beyond remakes, recent releases including Resident Evil: Requiem contributed to the strong sales performance.
The data reflects the franchise’s broad appeal across its fanbase, spanning both longtime players and newer audiences drawn to modernized versions of classic titles. The consistent performance across games ranging from nearly a decade old to recent releases suggests stable demand for Resident Evil properties across multiple platforms and generations of hardware.
