Ridley Scott’s Near-Perfect Noir Thriller Is Officially Free to Watch on YouTube
Ridley Scott’s post-apocalyptic thriller The Dog Stars is now available to watch for free on YouTube. The film stars Josh Brolin as Bangley, a misanthropic former marine, and Jacob Elordi as Hig, his partner living on an airstrip in a world decimated by viral plague. The story explores themes of survival and the American dream in a dystopian setting where inhabitants must defend against desperate intruders.
The article draws parallels to Scott’s 2007 crime epic American Gangster, which also starred Brolin alongside Denzel Washington. That film chronicled Frank Lucas’s rise and fall as a heroin trafficker who exploited the Vietnam War for profit. Both films examine the American dream through different lenses—one through science fiction worldbuilding and one through historical crime drama—though American Gangster grounds its darker narrative in real historical events rather than speculative fiction.
