Trophy Games acquires Airport Simulator: First Class developer Playrion from Paradox Interactive

Danish developer Trophy Games has acquired Playrion, the studio behind Airport Simulator: First Class, from publisher Paradox Interactive. The acquisition, marking Trophy Games’ largest to date, consists of a €2.25 million upfront payment plus a three-year earn-out based on net revenue performance.

The deal brings 30 Playrion employees into Trophy Games. According to Trophy Games founder and CEO Søren Gleie, the company had tracked Playrion for approximately four years, with the studio serving as a major competitor. Gleie characterized Playrion as “an entirely new growth pillar” for Trophy Games, underscoring the strategic value of the acquisition.

The move represents significant industry consolidation as Trophy Games expands its capabilities through an established developer with expertise in management simulation games. By bringing Playrion in-house, Trophy Games gains both the development talent and the intellectual property of Airport Simulator: First Class to fuel future growth initiatives.
