Warzone Will Soon Let You Turn Off Other Players’ Stupid Skins

Activision is addressing long-standing player complaints about cosmetic skins in Call of Duty: Warzone with a new visual customization feature launching alongside Modern Warfare 4. The update will allow players to toggle off the cosmetic skins worn by other players during matches.

The Warzone community has voiced frustration over immersion-breaking cosmetics from celebrity and branded crossovers, such as skins featuring Lionel Messi and Snoop Dogg. While these cosmetics represent significant monetization opportunities and allow player expression, the elaborate designs have proven controversial with the hardcore playerbase.

The new toggle feature offers a compromise: it preserves the cosmetic marketplace for those who purchase and display skins, while giving other players the option to replace cosmetics with standard operator appearances for immersion. This client-side solution allows both preferences to coexist without disrupting the cosmetic economy or impacting other players’ purchases.

The feature will roll out with the Modern Warfare 4 update, continuing both games’ live-service approach of implementing regular content updates and refinements based on community feedback.
