John Goodman, Laura Bailey, and Ian Alexander to Star in HBO’s The Last of Us Season 3

HBO’s The Last of Us Season 3 has announced three new cast members, revealed on September 26 during The Last of Us Day celebrations. Emmy-winning actor John Goodman will play Joey, an original character not based on the video games. Goodman is best known for his roles in Roseanne and The Righteous Gemstones.

Returning to the franchise are Laura Bailey and Ian Alexander, who both previously worked on The Last of Us Part 2. Bailey, who portrayed Abby in the game, will play Seraphite leader Elizabeth in Season 3. Alexander, who played Lev, takes on the role of Paco. The two characters are described as a friendly duo who dub themselves “Heroes of the Highway.”

The announcement comes as reports indicate Season 3 may be the final season of the HBO adaptation. Notably, Neil Druckmann, the original game’s creative director, is not involved in producing this season. To mark The Last of Us Day, Naughty Dog announced a charity Twitch stream scheduled for September 28 featuring announcements of franchise partnerships and collaborations.
