Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Developer Cold Iron Studios Hit By Layoffs
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 developer Cold Iron Studios has undergone significant layoffs just over a month after the game’s release. Parent company Enad Global 7 announced that at least 19 employees were affected in the staff reduction. The studio, which had approximately 50-70 employees prior to the cuts, is among the recent wave of gaming industry layoffs.
According to Enad Global 7’s statement, the reduction “follows the original plan that is intended to reduce the studio’s operating cost base and secure a sustainable operation going forward.” This framing suggests the layoffs were planned as part of post-launch restructuring rather than a reactive measure to poor performance.
Despite the significant workforce reduction, the publisher confirmed that Cold Iron Studios will continue development and support for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. This includes ongoing work on the Nintendo Switch version of the game, indicating the studio’s commitment to the live-service title remains intact despite the reduced team size.
The layoffs add to growing concerns about employment stability in the video game industry, which has seen multiple rounds of staff cuts across major publishers and independent developers in recent years.
