Gameloft is closing Minion Rush after a 13-year run

Gameloft announced the closure of Minion Rush, its long-running mobile game that has been in operation for 13 years since its 2013 release. The game will be withdrawn from app stores and have in-app purchases disabled on October 30, 2026, with servers shutting down completely on January 29, 2027.

Players who currently have the game installed will retain the ability to play online until the server shutdown date. After servers go offline, the game will remain playable in offline mode, though no further content updates will be released. During its final months, Gameloft is planning a special farewell event throughout October, with prices and rewards subject to adjustment.

While Gameloft acknowledged the game’s long tenure and dedicated community in an FAQ statement—noting “Since its release in 2013, Minion Rush has been enjoyed by a dedicated community and we hope you had a lot of fun playing the game”—the publisher did not provide specific reasons for the closure decision.

The shutdown represents the end of a significant mobile gaming title and raises broader questions around game preservation and the sustainability of long-running live-service mobile games.
