Naughty Dog Will ‘Fully Reveal’ Intergalactic in 2027, but No Release Window Yet
Naughty Dog has announced that Intergalactic: The Heretic Project will receive its “full reveal” in 2027, with no updates planned for the remainder of 2026. Studio head Neil Druckmann made the announcement during The Last of Us Day event, stating the team will “remain quiet for the rest of this year” to ensure the game receives proper treatment. Druckmann described Intergalactic as the studio’s most ambitious project to date and emphasized the importance of meeting fan expectations. The decision to delay marketing materials until 2027 aligns with PlayStation’s broader release schedule, avoiding potential marketing conflicts with nearby major releases.
In addition to the Intergalactic update, Naughty Dog announced that multiple new The Last of Us projects are in early development, designed to expand the franchise’s canon beyond existing numbered entries. The studio has not confirmed whether these projects will be games or other media formats.
The announcements came during The Last of Us Day celebration, where Naughty Dog highlighted community efforts that raised over $11,000 for AbleGamers, an organization supporting disabled gamers through game accessibility and technology.
