This Promising New Soulslike Features A Black Metal Vocalist Among Its Impressive Cast
The upcoming soulslike game Valor Mortis has announced its voice acting cast, featuring an unexpected crossover between music and gaming: Adam “Nergal” Darski, frontman of black metal band Behemoth, will voice the character Captain Raphael. Darski’s distinctive vocal style—characterized by powerful growls and screams—is expected to bring dramatic intensity to the role.
This marks Darski’s third venture into video game voice acting, following his work as narrator for 2018’s Apocalipsis: The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and as The Black Cat in 2022’s Blacktail. Joining him in Valor Mortis is an established ensemble cast including Jennifer English, known for Baldur’s Gate 3 and Expedition 33, who will play The Shrike, and James Alexander, recognized for his roles in Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Crimson Desert. The combination of established voice talent and the unexpected music industry addition suggests developer confidence in the project’s production values and narrative scope for this upcoming soulslike title.
