Trophy Games acquires Airlines Manager maker Playrion from Paradox for $2.6m

Trophy Games has acquired Playrion, the Paris-based developer behind Airlines Manager and Airport Simulator: First Class, from Paradox Interactive for $2.6 million in upfront cash. The deal, which is the largest acquisition in Trophy Games’ history, includes an earnout clause that could add up to 9% of Playrion’s net game revenue over the following three years.

Playrion operates independently from its Paris studio and employs approximately 30 people, generating around $4.6 million in annual revenue. The transaction is fully funded from Trophy Games’ existing cash reserves and is expected to close on September 30, structured on a cash- and debt-free basis.

Trophy Games has indicated that its primary strategic interest lies in leveraging Playrion’s games, particularly Airport Simulator, to expand its portfolio. The acquisition represents continued industry consolidation as publishers seek to strengthen market positions and expand game portfolios through targeted purchases of established studios and their development talent.
