Call of Duty: Warzone will soon make it possible to toggle all those silly skins off, something no one thought could ever happen

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will introduce a cosmetic filter feature to Warzone with the game’s first season launch later this year. This highly-requested feature will allow players to toggle off character skins from other Call of Duty games, displaying only Modern Warfare 4 skins when the filter is enabled.

This development aligns with Infinity Ward’s stated commitment to an “authentic” and “grounded” approach for Modern Warfare 4’s cosmetics and future collaborations. By restricting the visible cosmetics to those designed for the new game, players will experience a more cohesive visual aesthetic in both the lobby and matches.

The feature addresses long-standing player demand for cosmetic filtering in Warzone, recognizing that many players prefer consistency in character appearances over the wide array of licensed and crossover skins that have become characteristic of the free-to-play battle royale. This represents a notable shift in approach for the Call of Duty franchise, which has historically embraced cosmetic variety as a key monetization strategy.

The introduction of this filter suggests developers are increasingly willing to prioritize player preference and visual consistency, even if it means limiting cosmetic visibility. While cosmetics remain purchasable, players now have the option to control what they see in-game, potentially improving the visual experience for those who prefer authenticity over elaborate character designs.
