Don’t worry if you’re struggling in human form in The Blood of Dawnwalker - “it should be harder” playing that way

Medieval vampire RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker features intentional difficulty variance between its dual-form protagonist system. The game’s protagonist, the Dawnwalker, becomes weaker during daylight hours when forced to operate as a human, and significantly more powerful at night when transformed into a vampire.

Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz confirmed this design imbalance is deliberate, comparing the mechanic to werewolf gameplay where nighttime grants substantial power advantages. Players struggling with daytime sequences are experiencing the game as intended, with Tomaszkiewicz stating that “vampires should always be stronger” and that human form gameplay “should be harder.”

The asymmetrical power balance reflects a core design philosophy where the protagonist’s capabilities fundamentally differ based on the time of day and form. Rather than pursuing mechanical balance, the developers lean into thematic authenticity—making the human form feel vulnerable and underpowered serves the vampire fantasy where night provides a dramatic power fantasy advantage.
