Critical Role’s New Game Announced for 2027 (Exclusive)

Critical Role, the creator-owned media company renowned for its D&D actual-play campaigns and animated series adaptations, has announced a new video game collaboration. The company will co-publish ROCKBEASTS with indie developer LICHTHUND, marking another expansion into interactive entertainment for the streaming and media powerhouse.

ROCKBEASTS is a story-driven rock-and-roll management RPG set in an alternative 1990s America. Players assume the role of a band manager tasked with guiding an up-and-coming grunge band from garage performances to stadium stardom. The game represents Critical Role’s continued diversification beyond its flagship D&D content, following the success of its animated series The Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein, as well as published comics and novels.

The partnership with LICHTHUND signals Critical Role’s ongoing commitment to gaming ventures while supporting independent developers. With a 2027 release window, ROCKBEASTS joins Critical Role’s growing portfolio of multimedia projects, demonstrating the company’s expansion strategy across comics, television, publishing, and interactive media.
