31% of you go full goth and keep your RGB lighting turned off, while a mere 7% drench your rigs in unicorn vomit

PC Gamer polled its readers about RGB lighting preferences on gaming PCs, revealing surprising results. Out of 1,441 survey respondents, 31% reported keeping their gaming rigs completely dark with no RGB lighting whatsoever, while only 7% went all-out with maximum RGB effects—humorously termed “unicorn vomit” by the publication due to the vibrant, flashy aesthetic. The author expressed genuine surprise at the high proportion of gamers opting for a completely unlit aesthetic, while acknowledging its appeal as a “stealthed-out mean machine.” They noted that even a goth-inspired aesthetic could be enhanced with selective RGB accents. The poll highlights a significant divergence in gaming PC customization philosophy, with roughly a third of respondents favoring minimal or no lighting, a small minority pursuing maximum visual effects, and the remaining respondents presumably choosing varying degrees of RGB customization between these extremes.
