General Intuition raises $220m at $6.2bn valuation, trains AI on gameplay clips
AI training platform General Intuition has raised $220 million in new funding, bringing its valuation to $6.2 billion. The announcement represents dramatic growth since the company’s January funding round, which valued it at $2.3 billion—nearly tripling the company’s worth in less than a year.
The firm’s primary data source is Medal, a game clip-capture platform operating as a sister company under shared parent ownership. Medal boasts over 17 million monthly active users and is positioned as one of the fastest-growing gaming companies, with projected annual uploads reaching 3 billion clips. This vast repository of player-generated gameplay footage forms the foundation for General Intuition’s AI training operations.
General Intuition uses this gameplay data to train commercial AI systems for applications beyond gaming, specifically targeting robotics and autonomous driving. The approach represents an innovative method for gathering diverse, real-world training data by repurposing player-captured gaming content. The parent company structure enables synergy between Medal’s content platform and General Intuition’s AI capabilities, allowing efficient cross-utilization of resources and data.
