Infinity Ward Promises ‘Big Spill’ For COD DMZ Next Week

Infinity Ward has announced that next week will feature major news about DMZ, the extraction shooter game mode coming to Modern Warfare 4. Studio head Mark Grigsby posted on social media to confirm the announcement after a fan inquired about when more information regarding the mode would be revealed.

DMZ was originally revealed back in May but has remained relatively mysterious since then, with Activision providing limited details despite expectations that the mode could be a significant component of Modern Warfare 4’s launch lineup. The October 23 release date is approaching, making next week’s “big spill” timely for players eager to learn more about the extraction shooter before the game launches.

The promise of expanded coverage suggests Infinity Ward plans to discuss gameplay mechanics, features, maps, progression systems, and potentially other details that have remained undisclosed. Given that extraction shooters have become an increasingly popular subgenre following the success of titles like Escape from Tarkov, the integration of DMZ into the Call of Duty franchise could represent a significant departure from traditional multiplayer-focused COD experiences.
