Naughty Dog confirms two more The Last of Us projects are in the works, won’t show off Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet until 2027
Naughty Dog has confirmed it is developing two new The Last of Us projects, with studio head Neil Druckmann announcing the news on The Last of Us Day 2026 (September 26). The projects are described as being in “very early stages” of development and will expand the canonical universe of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II, though the studio has not yet specified whether they will be standalone games or expansions to existing titles.
In his announcement, Druckmann emphasized Naughty Dog’s commitment to creating meaningful content, stating the studio would not return to The Last of Us universe “unless we had something meaningful to say.” The confirmation came through a blog post celebrating The Last of Us Day, alongside news of new official social media accounts for the franchise and various fan engagement activities including a charity livestream and merchandise collaborations.
In related news, Naughty Dog also confirmed it will not publicly reveal its sci-fi game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet until 2027. The studio previously completed an ambitious cinematic shoot for the project in August.
