SEGA Finally Joins Xbox Disc To Digital

SEGA has officially joined Xbox’s Disc to Digital program, marking a significant milestone for the service. The rollout is currently limited to Xbox Insider testing but represents another major publisher expansion. SEGA joins Ubisoft, which recently committed to the program in September, following months of anticipation as prominent publishers like Square Enix and Bandai Namco remained holdouts.

The Disc to Digital feature enables players to convert physical game discs into digital licenses on Xbox One and Series X consoles. Beyond SEGA’s participation, Xbox has improved the feature’s functionality—digital licenses now generate automatically when supported discs are inserted, streamlining the conversion process compared to previous workflows.

The program has been in insider testing for approximately one month, and publisher adoption is accelerating. The service addresses a key player demand for digital ownership flexibility while transitioning from physical media. SEGA’s participation significantly expands the catalog available for conversion and suggests major publishers increasingly recognize the value proposition for both players and the platform. The trend indicates that comprehensive publisher support for the disc-to-digital initiative continues to progress.
