Former Dying Light franchise lead joins Bloober Team horror imprint Broken Mirror Games
Tymon Smektala, who spent over 13 years at Techland as franchise director leading the Dying Light series, has joined Bloober Team as executive director of its horror-focused imprint Broken Mirror Games. The co-development label, announced in 2024, operates as a subsidiary within Bloober Team and collaborates with external studios to develop and publish horror-themed games.
In his new leadership role, Smektala will oversee the creative direction of Broken Mirror’s portfolio and establish partnerships with studios to explore diverse interpretations of horror in gaming. He is currently working with development teams on two in-production titles: “Saw: Genesis” and “Onyx: The Dark Grip,” which he will help bring to market. The imprint has already released “Star Trek: Infection,” demonstrating its commitment to varied horror experiences.
Smektala announced his move on LinkedIn, emphasizing his focus on exploring multiple facets of fear within gaming and identifying new creative partnerships. His appointment brings over a decade of franchise management experience to Bloober Team’s horror division, representing a strategic consolidation of seasoned industry talent as the studio expands its presence in the horror genre.
