Tarkov Devs Are Promoting More PvP in Seasons Mode
Escape from Tarkov has launched a new limited-time event designed to encourage more player-versus-player combat in its seasonal Kord Breach mode. The event follows the recent seasonal update that introduced a traditional season-based operating model with a battle pass system.
The primary incentive for the new event is a significant boost to XP rewards for killing both player characters and Scav (AI-controlled enemies) in the seasonal mode. Battlestate Games revealed the event through social media, highlighting increased XP rates for kills and actions associated with those kills.
This marks the latest in a series of limited-time events for the seasonal mode, following a previous Lighthouse-based event. By rewarding PvP-focused gameplay with enhanced XP gains, Battlestate Games is actively steering player behavior toward more aggressive, combat-oriented playstyles rather than passive approaches like looting or extraction-focused strategies.
The move reflects a strategic shift in how the developer is managing Escape from Tarkov’s live-service model. The introduction of seasons, battle passes, and event-driven XP boosts represents a more structured progression system compared to the game’s earlier iterative approach. These seasonal events appear designed to maintain engagement throughout each season while shaping the competitive meta.
The decision to emphasize PvP through mechanical incentives suggests Battlestate Games views player combat as central to the game’s long-term appeal, particularly in an extraction shooter context where risk-reward dynamics are fundamental.
