All versions of The Witcher 3 “that exist in the world” will be upgraded with the free Remastered edition today
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered launched today as a free upgrade for all existing versions of the game. CD Projekt Red confirmed that every copy—whether the base version, Complete Edition, or Game of the Year Edition—will be automatically updated to the new Remastered edition. The upgrade became available at 11am BST and is rolling out across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms, with Nintendo Switch 2 also receiving the remaster.
The remastered edition consolidates all content under a single standard version, including the acclaimed expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine as default inclusions. Players who already own the game will find the update in their library with an “owned” indicator on their platform’s digital store.
The update file size varies slightly by platform: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S users need to download approximately 45GB, while Nintendo Switch 2 players face a slightly larger 50GB download. PC players also require a 45GB patch. This release provides a modernized experience for all players across current-generation consoles and PC without requiring a new purchase.
