AOC’s First 1050Hz Monitor Using “Oxide-Based” Fast IPS Panel Arrives in 2027
AOC has unveiled the Agon Pro AGP257FT, its first gaming monitor exceeding 1000Hz refresh rates, achieving 1050Hz at native 1080p resolution. The 25-inch display uses an “oxide-based” Fast IPS panel and launches in early 2027.
The milestone builds on 2020 research from Blur Busters identifying 1000Hz as the threshold where LCD displays can approach the motion clarity of classic CRT monitors. The first 1000Hz gaming monitors arrived in 2025 at 720p, with later iterations reaching native 1080p to better suit modern gaming. AOC’s AGP257FT advances further by combining 1050Hz refresh rates with 1080p resolution, addressing a key limitation of previous ultra-high refresh displays.
The “oxide-based” Fast IPS panel technology enables these extreme refresh rates while maintaining the color accuracy and wide viewing angles typical of IPS displays. This combination targets competitive gaming audiences where ultra-high refresh rates deliver measurable responsiveness advantages. The announcement represents meaningful progress in gaming display evolution, building on the 2025 breakthrough of 1000Hz monitors reaching mainstream availability.
