Crimson Desert’s Charting the Unknown DLC delayed by two weeks “to deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience”

Crimson Desert developer Pearl Abyss announced a two-week delay for its first post-launch expansion, Charting the Unknown, moving the release date from October 15 to October 29. The studio cited the need for “additional development time to deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience.”

The expansion, announced at Sony’s State of Play presentation in September, will release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Charting the Unknown introduces new adventures in the world of Pywel, including a new sinister presence, political conflicts, and opportunities to explore ancient secrets beneath the ocean.

The delay comes just seven months after Crimson Desert’s initial release on March 19, 2026. Despite the relatively short turnaround, the game has proven commercially successful with over six million copies sold. While the two-week delay is modest, it reflects Pearl Abyss’s decision to prioritize polish and stability over meeting the originally announced deadline.

The studio acknowledged the delay across social media and Steam, apologizing to players anticipating the expansion’s release. The October 29 target demonstrates continued commitment to expanding the live-service RPG, though Pearl Abyss has not yet announced plans for additional content beyond this expansion.
