GTA 6: Every Animal Confirmed So Far
Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will feature an expansive wildlife system with upward of 170 animal species across the game’s fictional Florida setting, known as Leonida. The studio shared these details in an exclusive 14-page cover story with Game Informer, providing unprecedented insight into the game’s environmental depth and design.
The animal roster includes 60 bird species, more than 30 land mammals, plus fish and reptiles. Specific creatures confirmed for the game include monkeys, sharks, armadillos, bears, and alligators—all species that exist in actual Florida ecosystems. Rockstar’s goal is to faithfully represent Florida’s diverse animal ecosystem across Leonida’s six distinct regions and varied biomes.
The wildlife system extends beyond visual elements, with the intricacy and depth of GTA 6’s animal implementation representing a notable advancement compared to previous franchise entries. The game will feature at least one zoo for players to visit, suggesting animals will play an interactive role in gameplay and exploration.
GTA 6’s wildlife ambitions notably exceed Red Dead Redemption 2’s animal systems. The integration of wildlife with gameplay mechanics like scuba diving positions the game as a technical showcase for dynamic environmental systems. These reveals came alongside information about the game’s dynamic weather, detailed NPCs, and recreational activities available to protagonists Jason and Lucia.
