MTG Corn Maze Secret Lair Superdrop Brings Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, KPop Demon Hunters, and Marvel Zombies to Magic
Wizards of the Coast has announced the Corn Maze Superdrop, a new Secret Lair release featuring multiple crossover collections. The superdrop marks the first appearance of both Jim Henson’s Labyrinth and KPop Demon Hunters in Magic: The Gathering. The Labyrinth crossover includes three separate collections, while KPop Demon Hunters brings characters and themes from the Netflix animated film. Unlike previous Halloween-themed releases that emphasized darker horror, the Corn Maze Superdrop takes a lighthearted approach. Secret Lair has become a regular monthly release cadence for Wizards of the Coast, with crossovers becoming increasingly frequent in MTG’s release strategy.
However, reception has been mixed. One reviewer, anticipating the KPop Demon Hunters crossover with enthusiasm based on the Netflix film’s appeal, ultimately found the Secret Lair execution disappointing. The reviewer appreciated the film’s themes of music and friendship used to defeat the demon king Gwi-Ma, but felt the card game crossover failed to capture what made the source material appealing.
