Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension Physical Bundle Announced
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is receiving a new physical cartridge release exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, announced by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo. The bundled edition, officially titled Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension, will launch on October 29 and combine the base game with its Mega Dimension expansion on a single cartridge.
Following the same release strategy used for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, this compilation offers convenience for physical media collectors, eliminating the need for separate downloads or cartridges. The original game was released in fall 2025 and became a commercial success, exceeding 12 million copies sold by year-end.
The Mega Dimension expansion allows players to venture into a distorted version of Lumiose City through new portals created by the legendary Pokémon Hoopa. Key gameplay features include the ability to temporarily control Pokémon at levels exceeding 100 and encounters with additional Mega Evolution forms, including previously featured species like Darkrai and Magearna.
While optimized for Switch 2’s enhanced hardware capabilities, the cartridge maintains backward compatibility with original Nintendo Switch consoles, allowing players to purchase the bundle now and transfer their save data if they upgrade to Switch 2 later. This flexibility provides options for both current Switch owners considering an upgrade and new Switch 2 players seeking complete Pokémon Legends experiences.
