Xbox Mythic Achievements roll out to Insiders and are retroactively awarded as far back as Xbox 360 games
Microsoft has officially announced Xbox Mythic Achievements, a new achievement tier designed to recognize players who complete all achievements within a game. The feature is Microsoft’s direct equivalent to PlayStation’s Platinum Trophies, following years of speculation among the Xbox community.
Mythic Achievements are awarded to players who earn all standard achievements for a game. Notably, DLC-added achievements—labeled as “add-on” achievements—do not count toward the Mythic unlock requirements, ensuring that base-game completion remains the benchmark for this distinction.
A particularly appealing aspect of the rollout is that Mythic Achievements are awarded retroactively. Players can retroactively earn Mythic Achievements for games they’ve already completed, dating back to the Xbox 360 era. This means existing players with full achievement lists on legacy titles may find their libraries updated with the new Mythic designation.
The feature is currently rolling out to Xbox Insiders, Microsoft’s testing program for console updates and features, with broader availability expected to follow. The retroactive nature of the awards suggests Microsoft is positioning Mythic Achievements as a system-wide recognition system rather than limiting them to future releases, potentially giving long-time Xbox players recognition for their dedication across the platform’s history.
