You Can’t Play Ghost of Yotei’s DLC Until You Beat These Missions

Ghost of Yotei’s first paid expansion, Echoes of Sekigahara, is now available on PlayStation 5. To access the DLC, players must complete four specific main story missions: The Old Inn, The Way of Dual Katana, The Tale of the Oni, and The Kitsune’s Fate. The expansion typically unlocks around 10 hours into the campaign, though completion time varies depending on how much players explore.

The DLC continues protagonist Atsu’s revenge saga against the Yōtei Six, but shifts narrative focus to explore the consequences of her violent quest. While the base game presents Atsu as a singular force driven purely by vengeance, Echoes of Sekigahara adds significant depth to her character arc by examining the psychological and emotional toll of her mission. Critics note the expansion fleshes out Atsu’s character development so thoroughly that it arguably should have been included in the original game rather than released as optional content a year later.

A new Complete Edition of Ghost of Yotei is also now available, which includes the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion along with a brand new game mode called Wanted Mode. Existing owners have an upgrade path to access the additional content. While reviews praise the DLC’s narrative additions for its emotional depth and action sequences, the new Wanted Mode is noted as being a particularly standout feature of the release.
