Sound the ‘This week’s free Epic Games Store game is worth logging in for’ alarm
Nightdive’s 2025 remaster of System Shock 2 is available for free on the Epic Games Store through October 8. The acclaimed immersive sim, regarded as one of the finest games in its genre and widely considered an all-time classic, is being offered at no cost barely a year after its release—a move coverage describes as exceptional value.
The remaster has earned critical acclaim for its exquisite restoration of the original System Shock 2, maintaining what made the game a landmark title while modernizing the experience. Nightdive Studios’ careful approach to remasters has made this giveaway particularly noteworthy, as the studio has built a strong reputation for faithfully preserving classic games.
Players interested in claiming the game must log into the Epic Games Store and use two-factor authentication, which coverage acknowledges as minor friction but emphasizes is well worth the effort given the quality being offered. The free offer requires claiming the title before October 8 to secure it permanently in a player’s library.
