Witcher 3 Remastered patch addressing “various lighting adjustments” rolls out

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered, which launched for free earlier this week, has received its first patch addressing community concerns about visual changes that made the game appear overly bright and washed out. CD Projekt Red released the update across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Xbox Play Anywhere version on PC, making “various lighting adjustments” throughout the game, particularly fixing interior areas that appeared too dark in the remaster. The patch also resolves a DLSS availability issue that prevented PC players using Xbox Play Anywhere from accessing the feature.

The remaster’s launch has been successful, with the free update breaking The Witcher 3’s lifetime concurrent Steam record, drawing over 119,000 players at launch. Critical reception has been predominantly positive, with reviewers praising the visual enhancements to the classic RPG. However, the rapid need for lighting adjustments reflects the challenge of visual remasters: balancing significant graphical improvements with maintaining the original game’s artistic intent.

CD Projekt Red also noted that a separate hotfix for PC is in development to address reported save game issues. The PS5 patch is 1.1GB in size (version 5.000.020), though file sizes across platforms have not been detailed.
