Bungie co-founder and Destiny 2 narrative director launch transmedia studio Stone Kite
Bungie co-founder Jason Jones and Destiny 2 narrative director Margaret Stohl have launched Stone Kite, a new Los Angeles-based transmedia studio focused on world-building. The studio marks a significant move by two prominent figures in the video game industry, with Jones having co-created both the Halo and Destiny franchises during his time at Bungie.
Stohl, who serves as CEO of Stone Kite, brings extensive experience from her work across multiple video games and her previous role at 7 Studios, which was later acquired by Activision. Beyond the gaming industry, Stohl is also a published author, having written the popular Beautiful Creatures series.
The new studio is launching with its first intellectual property, One Zero One, which is being adapted from an original manuscript. Stone Kite’s approach emphasizes collaborative world-building across multiple disciplines and mediums. Rather than developing a property in one medium and subsequently adapting it to others, the studio aims to bring together global creators from diverse fields to shape worlds simultaneously across different platforms from the outset.
