League of Legends Demacia Cup Global Invitational Preview
Riot Games has introduced the Demacia Cup 2026 Global Invitational as a new international League of Legends tournament aimed at crowning the world’s best team that failed to qualify for LoL Worlds 2026. The event represents part of a broader expansion of competitive LoL opportunities this year, following the inaugural World Star Challengers Invitational won by T1 Esports Academy.
The tournament features regionally seeded teams ranked 4th through 7th from six major regions: the LCK, LPL, LEC, LCS, LCP, and CBLOL. This structure ensures competitive representation from Asia’s top leagues, Europe, North America, and emerging regions, while focusing on teams that narrowly missed the main Worlds qualification threshold.
The competition opened with matches pairing regional rivals and cross-regional matchups. The opening bracket included Shopify Rebellion (LCS #4) facing KT Rolster (LCK #5), HANJIN BRION (LCK #7) against JDG (LPL #5), Vitality (LEC #5) versus BFX (LCK #6), and LGD (LPL #7) taking on FlyQuest (LCS #5). Additional opening matches were drawn randomly to round out the initial bracket. This tournament provides high-level competitive play for strong regional teams that fell just short of worlds qualification, offering them a chance to claim international glory and maintain momentum heading into the next competitive season.
