Disney+ Shows and Movies Are Now Headed to Netflix, Including Ice Age and Percy Jackson

Disney is licensing a selection of its content to Netflix under a new nonexclusive deal, bringing popular titles including the Ice Age franchise and Percy Jackson and the Olympians to the competing streaming platform. The agreement makes select Disney+ content available to Netflix’s 325 million subscribers, combining legacy films with contemporary television series.

The move is strategically timed to boost audience interest in Disney’s newer series ahead of upcoming seasons. Most notably, the first two seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians—which has been exclusive to Disney+ since its 2023 debut—will arrive on Netflix on October 4. This timing precedes the show’s third season premiere on Disney+ on November 20, giving potential viewers on Netflix a window to catch up before the new season launches on the original platform.

In addition to Percy Jackson, the deal brings all five Ice Age movies to Netflix starting October 4. Other Disney television productions set for Netflix include Will Trent (seasons 1-4) and Shifting Gears (seasons 1-2), among other titles from Disney’s extensive catalog.

This licensing arrangement represents a notable shift in Disney’s streaming strategy, with the company now sharing flagship titles with a direct competitor. The arrangement allows both platforms to benefit—Netflix gains acclaimed content to attract new subscribers, while Disney gains increased exposure for its shows and their upcoming seasons, potentially converting Netflix viewers into Disney+ subscribers for exclusive new content.
