Gears of War: E-Day Early Access Player Count Smashes Steam Record

Gears of War: E-Day has launched into early access on October 2 with impressive numbers, becoming the most-played Gears game on Steam. The Coalition’s prequel title reached 20,374 concurrent players during its first day, nearly doubling Gears 5’s all-time peak of 10,196 concurrent players on the platform.

The game became available to Premium Upgrade, Premium Edition, and Collector’s Edition owners ahead of its October 6 official release. Set during the first Emergence of the Locust, E-Day appears to be capturing strong interest from players anticipating the franchise prequel.

The early access numbers represent a significant milestone for the series on PC. The surge in players comes despite the game only being available to select editions, suggesting the full launch could see even higher concurrent player counts. This performance marks a positive sign for The Coalition and Xbox Game Studios as they push the franchise forward with a new entry that explores the origins of the long-running conflict central to the Gears universe.
