Batman, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter Feature in First Trailer for Skydance, the Newly Named Parent Company for a Merged Warner Bros. and Paramount

Skydance has been announced as the new parent company for a historic $110 billion merger between Warner Bros. and Paramount. The deal, led by David Ellison and backed by his billionaire father Larry Ellison, combines two of Hollywood’s largest entertainment studios under a single corporate umbrella. Warner Bros. and Paramount will continue to operate as sub-brands within Skydance.

The merger brings together an enormous portfolio of iconic franchises and properties. Warner Bros. contributes Harry Potter, Batman, and numerous other major intellectual properties, while Paramount brings Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones among its significant holdings. The first official trailer for Skydance showcases these franchises as flagship brands under the new corporate structure.

The deal follows a hostile bid for Warner Bros. Discovery that Skydance and Paramount launched last year. The merger has faced multiple regulatory challenges in the United States and abroad that have repeatedly threatened to block the transaction. Despite these substantial obstacles, the companies have successfully navigated to reach the official announcement.

Industry observers have raised significant concerns that the consolidation could result in substantial job losses through corporate consolidation and redundancy elimination. As the two studios integrate their operations, combined workforce rationalization is expected. This represents a major shift in the entertainment industry landscape, concentrating vast intellectual property assets and production capacity under single ownership.
