Sony in Talks to Land Battlefield Movie With Michael B. Jordan

Sony Pictures is in advanced negotiations to acquire film adaptation rights to the Battlefield video game franchise, emerging as the frontrunner in a competitive bidding war. Christopher McQuarrie, known for writing and directing Top Gun: Maverick and multiple Mission: Impossible films, is attached to write, direct, and produce the adaptation. He also previously co-wrote the acclaimed 1995 film The Usual Suspects.

Actor and producer Michael B. Jordan is set to produce the project and may star in the film if scheduling permits. The initial bidding war for the Battlefield film rights surfaced in April, with several major studios competing to acquire the property, including Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Universal, and Netflix. Sony’s position as the leading contender reflects industry confidence in the potential of adapting the long-running military shooter franchise for cinema.
