System Shock 2 Remaster Is Free to Keep on the Epic Games Store Right Now
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is currently available for free on the Epic Games Store until October 8, 2026. Following Epic’s standard policy for weekly giveaways, once claimed, the game remains permanently in the player’s library. Access requires only a free Epic Games account and the Epic Games Launcher to play.
Developed by Nightdive Studios, a studio recognized for its well-regarded classic game revivals including Quake and Star Wars: Dark Forces, the remaster launched in June 2025. The 25th Anniversary edition preserves the original game’s core design while modernizing its visual presentation and gameplay mechanics, featuring remastered visuals and updated character assets that bring the 1999 classic into the contemporary era.
As part of its October promotional campaign, Epic Games Store is complementing the System Shock 2 offer with additional free titles including Buried Stars, Out of Sight, and TerraScape, providing players multiple options to expand their libraries at no cost.
