Even T1 Academy Are World Champions After Winning WSCI
T1 has secured its first League of Legends World Championship title without Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok, winning the inaugural World Star Challengers Invitational (WSCI). The tournament featured academy and Tier 2 teams from eight regions: Korea, China, EMEA, North America, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Brazil.
T1’s academy squad defeated Solary 3-2 in an intense five-game final to claim the title. Solary, representing the French LFL, had been tournament favorites and maintained an impressive run through the competition with only a single game loss before the final. Both the WSCI semifinals and final featured French LFL teams facing Korean LCK CL teams, with Solary sweeping Asia Masters 2026 champions DN SOOPers Cha in their path to the final.
Meanwhile, Faker and Ryu ‘Keria’ Min-seok contributed to Korea’s victory in the Asia Games 2026 League of Legends tournament, showcasing the region’s continued dominance in competitive play. The WSCI victory demonstrates T1’s depth and organizational strength, with the academy roster stepping up to championship level in the absence of the organization’s primary roster.
