Listen to a Wild, 2-Hour UFO 50 Mashup Album by Trombone Champ’s Co-Creator

A two-hour hip-hop mashup album titled “UFO 50,000” has been released, combining rap vocals with music from all 50 games in the UFO 50 retro collection. The project was created by Dan Vecchitto, co-owner of Holy Wow Games and co-creator of Trombone Champ.

Vecchitto began working on the mashup album after being invited to guest on the podcast Eggplant (now The Secret Lives of Games), which aimed to feature episodes covering every game in UFO 50. The compilation demonstrates a resurgence of interest in video game music mashups, a phenomenon that peaked in the late 2000s with notable examples like Team Teamwork’s “The Ocarina of Rhyme,” which similarly paired hip-hop vocals with video game soundtracks.

UFO 50 is a retro-inspired game collection developed by Mossmouth, featuring original music composed by Eirik Suhrke. Vecchitto’s “UFO 50,000” builds on that soundtrack by reimagining the game music through hip-hop production, creating what appears to be a comprehensive sonic journey through the entire 50-game collection. The project represents both a creative homage to the collection and a modern take on the game music remix culture that characterized the early internet era.
