CD Projekt Red addresses divisive lighting changes in a new Witcher 3 Remastered PC patch

CD Projekt Red released hotfix 5.00c for The Witcher 3 Remastered, addressing lighting concerns that emerged following the update’s PC launch. The patch implements various visual adjustments to the Velen region, including tweaks to bloom effects, vegetation lighting, saturation, and path tracing lighting—changes that directly respond to community feedback about the remaster’s graphical overhaul.

In addition to the lighting refinements, the hotfix resolves an audio bug where voiceover volumes became significantly quieter after players accessed the game’s pause menus. The patch also fixes a save and load issue that prevented players from saving or loading games when their Documents folder path contained special characters, a technical problem that could obstruct gameplay progression.

This represents the second hotfix since The Witcher 3 Remastered’s PC release, demonstrating CD Projekt Red’s responsiveness to player feedback. The lighting adjustments are particularly noteworthy given that the remaster’s visual enhancements have sparked community discussion, with players holding varying opinions on the changes to the game’s visual presentation.
