Dynasty Warriors Producer Wants to Make Sequels, Not Remasters
Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered has launched across Nintendo Switch 2, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, marking 25 years since the original title debuted on the PlayStation 2. The remaster, developed by Koei Tecmo, reconstructs the classic game using Unreal Engine 5 to celebrate this significant anniversary milestone.
In an interview with 4Gamer, longtime Dynasty Warriors producer Tomohiko Sho addressed the franchise’s future development trajectory, particularly regarding the possibility of additional remasters. While Sho acknowledged that future remasters could potentially occur, he expressed a clear preference to focus on developing new original games and Dynasty Warriors sequels instead. According to Sho, he would rather dedicate the remainder of his career to creating new content rather than revisiting and remastering older titles.
This statement provides insight into the studio’s strategic direction, suggesting that while remasters may occasionally appear—such as the current Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered—the franchise’s primary focus will shift toward fresh sequels and new experiences. The approach reflects a broader industry trend where developers balance preserving classic titles through updated releases while maintaining momentum through original game development.
