Dynasty Warriors producer would rather make new games than more remasters

Dynasty Warriors producer Tomohiko Sho has expressed a preference for dedicating his remaining career efforts to developing new games rather than overseeing remasters of existing titles. Following the launch of Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered across Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, Sho indicated that while he cannot entirely rule out future remasters, he would personally rather focus on original game development.

The producer’s stance on additional remasters depends largely on the commercial performance of Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered. Though he stopped short of completely dismissing the possibility of future remasters, his apparent reluctance to lead such projects suggests a potential shift in resource allocation toward new experiences rather than enhanced versions of classic titles.

This perspective reflects a broader industry tension between preserving and updating legacy franchises versus creating entirely new games. For the Dynasty Warriors series, which has experienced significant remaster activity in recent years, Sho’s comments signal the publisher may be reconsidering where development resources are best invested moving forward.
