Forget Star Wars Movies, the Franchise’s Future Belongs to Video Games
Lucasfilm has announced development of Star Wars - Episode X, a direct continuation of the mainline Skywalker Saga that will follow Rey’s storyline. Screenwriter Simon Kinberg, who worked on The Force Awakens in its early development and co-created Star Wars Rebels with Dave Filoni, brings significant experience from the franchise’s recent television projects. Jon Watts, known for directing three Spider-Man films and the recently-aired Skeleton Crew series, will direct the film.
The announcement comes at a time of growing optimism about the franchise’s future. This represents a significant step forward for Star Wars, bringing established creative talent back to develop the next major chapter in the iconic saga. The project marks a continuation of the story that began with the original trilogy and continued through the sequel trilogy, taking the narrative forward with Rey as a central character.
