New Gears Of War: E-Day Patch Addresses Giant Vomiting Frog Error Codes

Gears of War: E-Day launched globally on October 6 with a stability patch addressing issues identified during its early access period. The game, an Xbox exclusive coming to PC and Game Pass, performed impressively during early access, breaking player records on Steam and earning a Metascore of 87.

The Coalition released the patch ahead of the full global release to tackle various technical problems. The update focuses primarily on overall stability and performance improvements across the game’s campaign mode, multiplayer, and Horde Siege modes. The patch also enhances hardware compatibility and improves in-game reporting features.

Among the notable fixes is the resolution of the “Bilefrog-Kalona” error, a cleverly named split-screen multiplayer issue that developers termed after the game’s grotesque enemy type—gigantic subterranean Locust frogs that attack players by vomiting stomach acid. This particular bug occurred when split-screen players encountered specific conditions during matches. The Coalition demonstrated creative personality by assigning thematically appropriate names to various network errors throughout the game.

Additional improvements target online and multiplayer functionality, with particular attention to Versus Social matchmaking issues. These fixes aim to ensure smooth gameplay experiences across different play modes and player configurations. The patch demonstrates The Coalition’s commitment to launching the game in solid technical condition, especially important given Gears of War: E-Day’s impending arrival on Game Pass, which will significantly expand its audience beyond early access players.
