Overwatch Reveals Solo Levelling Anime Skins for Season 5

Blizzard Entertainment is launching Overwatch Season 5 with a substantial content update headlined by a collaboration with the popular anime Solo Leveling. The season introduces five character skins based on the anime’s Shadow Monarch storyline, featuring Genji as protagonist Sung Jinwoo, Reaper as Igris, Ashe as Chae Hae-In, Reinhardt as Iron, and Lúcio in an unspecified role.

Beyond the anime crossover, Season 5 brings significant gameplay changes and new content. Blizzard is introducing Doctrine, a new support hero marking the tenth new hero addition this year, alongside a fresh Escort map called Grímsvötn. The season also features substantial reworks for established heroes Roadhog and Sombra, with Sombra transitioning from a damage dealer to a support role—a shift that may impact the competitive meta.

The seasonal cosmetics extend beyond the Solo Leveling collaboration, with Blizzard offering thematically varied skins including Tech Witches and formal wear options. Lúcio receives particular attention as the recipient of this season’s Mythic Weapon skin, which uniquely features a miniature breakdancing frog embedded within the weapon design. The new battle pass maintains the seasonal tradition with a spooky thematic direction.

These updates reflect Blizzard’s ongoing strategy of maintaining engagement in the live-service hero shooter through regular content drops, collaborations with popular media franchises, and gameplay rebalancing.
